All our joy, all our hope, and all our faith are anchored to Jesus Christ. He is the King of kings and the Lord of lords, the one who died for the sins of humanity and rose again to secure our eternal salvation. All authority in heaven and on earth belongs to Jesus - and he promised that he would come again...soon.
Everything hinges on this.
So here at FCC we have our sights set on Jesus. We are a biblical community of people seeking wholehearted alignment to Christ and his Kingdom. After all, this is what we were made for! We believe that God created us to be in relationship with him, and that he's given us his Word to light the way. This is why Scripture drives everything we do at FCC; it's the ultimate authority behind what we do and why we do it.
Our earnest prayer is that the Spirit of God would use the Word of God to make the people of God beacons of Christ's light and love, both here in Washington, PA and throughout the uttermost parts of the world.
Our church has it's beginning in the homes of concerned believers in Log Pile. Prayer meetings and bible studies were held in the homes of attenders beginning on February 15, 1953.
The number grew so that meetings were held in the Log Pile School on Sunday afternoons. Desiring to have a church building of their own, a building committee was formed and they purchased the corner lot from Mrs. Helma Weirich. A Church Charter was obtained in October 1956, and ground breaking was held on June 28, 1959. The brick ediface was completed on November 29 1959 when the late Rev. Ralph Porter conducted the first worship service. He remained Pastor until 1963. The next Pastor was Rev. Robert Ickes, who resigned in 1964.
On February 18, 1965 Pastor Floyd Marasco Sr. assumed the Pastorship of the church. Under his pastorate, hearts were touched by the loving message of Christ and the membership steadily increased. A Missionary department was established, many Christ centered activities were initiated for youth and adults. This fellowship brought hearts deeper into the knowledge of Jesus Christ and God's Word.
With Spiritual growth also came improvements to the Church building! The adjacent ground across the creek was donated to the church in the loving memory of Mrs. Helma Weirich, by her children. It was previously used for our Youth activities, today it is used as our parking lot.
Friendship continued to grow and grow, on March 17 2002 a congregational meeting voted unanimously to add on to the church's building. Throughout 2002, volunteers and those at Bezel Construction Company worked together to build our current Sanctuary. The previous building was transformed into classrooms and a Fellowship Hall with a large Kitchen upstairs. On June 8 2003, Pastor Floyd Marasco preached the very first sermon in this new sanctuary.
August 14 2005, Friendship Community Church's pastoral duties were passed from Pastor Floyd Marasco to Pastor Rick Bruckner. Pastor Rick Bruckner blessed Friendship as Senior Pastor growing the congregation physically and spiritually unil 2020 when he retired.
Pastor Zeb Thomas was the next Pastor along side Pastor Benjamin Masrasco as Assistant / Youth Pastor who grew the congregation in numbers to the point where a decision was made to divide the congregation. Those who decided to follow Pastors Zeb and Benjamin's leading left Friendship in the summer of 2024.
November 2024 Pastor Rick Bruckner came out of retirement and was voted in as Friendship's Senior Pastor by those who decided to stay!
Through every season, God’s guidance and presence have been the foundation of Friendship. From humble beginnings to the growing community we are today, His faithfulness has led us forward. As we look to the future, we trust that He will continue to guide, strengthen, and bless our church. May we remain steadfast in His word, united in His love, and committed to serving His purpose for generations to come. To God be the glory!
We believe there is but one living and true God, revealed in three persons - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit - the same in substance, in power and in glory.
We believe in the substitutional death of Jesus Christ.
We believe in one condition of salvation, which is acceptance of the Lord Jesus Christ by faith as a personal Savior. We also believe that a godly sorrow for sin and a godly life is the fruit thereof. People thus born again by the Holy Spirit become children of God.
We believe in the personal abiding of the Holy Spirit in every believer.
We believe the Word of God is the inspired Word as stated in 2 Timothy 3:16-17: “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.”
We believe in one church of God, embracing all believers in faith.
We believe in the judgments as set forth by Jesus Christ.
We believe there are two sacraments: Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.
We believe Jesus Christ was begotten by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, and is true God and true man.
We believe man was created in the image of God. Genesis 1:27 says: “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him: male and female created he them.”
We also believe that man sinned and thus caused both physical death and spiritual death.
We believe in the resurrection of the crucified body of the Lord Jesus Christ, in his ascension into heaven, and in his present life there for us as high priest and advocate.
We believe in the blessed hope of the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ, the personal and imminent return of our Lord into the air for His saints. We believe in the personal, visible, and glorious return of Christ to earth with his saints.
We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and unjust, the everlasting blessedness of the saved, and the punishment of the lost.
We believe that Satan, a fallen angel, is the evil power of this age, the adversary of Christ and his church, and that his destiny is eternal punishment of the lost.
We believe that the commandments of God given in the Old Testament are fulfilled in Jesus Christ.
