All our joy, all our hope, and all our faith are anchored to Jesus Christ. He is the King of kings and the Lord of lords, the one who died for the sins of humanity and rose again to secure our eternal salvation. All authority in heaven and on earth belongs to Jesus — and He promised that He would come again... soon.
Everything hinges on this.
So here at FCC, we have our sights set on Jesus. We are a biblical community of people seeking wholehearted alignment to Christ and His Kingdom. After all, this is what we were made for! We believe that God created us to be in relationship with Him, and that He’s given us His Word to light the way. This is why Scripture drives everything we do at FCC; it’s the ultimate authority behind what we do and why we do it.
We also want you to know—there’s no dress code here. Come as you are. Whether you're in jeans and a t-shirt or Sunday best, you’re welcome in this place. Our focus is on hearts, not appearances.
Our earnest prayer is that the Spirit of God would use the Word of God to make the people of God beacons of Christ’s light and love, both here in Washington, PA and throughout the uttermost parts of the world.
Rooted in Prayer – 1953
Friendship Community Church began on February 15, 1953, in the homes of believers in the Log Pile community, where prayer meetings and Bible studies brought people together with a shared desire to grow in Christ.
Laying the Foundation – 1956–1959
As attendance grew, gatherings moved to the Log Pile School on Sunday afternoons. A building committee formed and purchased the corner lot from Mrs. Helma Weirich. The church was officially chartered in October 1956, and ground was broken on June 28, 1959. The first worship service in the new brick church building was held on November 29, 1959, led by the late Rev. Ralph Porter.
Seasons of Growth – 1965–2002
After several leadership transitions, Pastor Floyd Marasco Sr. became Senior Pastor on February 18, 1965. Under his leadership:
Membership steadily increased
A missionary department was formed
Ministries for youth and adults flourished
Church property expanded with a donation of adjacent land in memory of Mrs. Weirich
That donated land now serves as our parking lot—once the site of many youth activities.
Expanding the Vision – 2002–2005
On March 17, 2002, the church voted to expand its building. Volunteers and Bezel Construction worked together, and on June 8, 2003, Pastor Floyd preached the first sermon in our new sanctuary. The original building was converted into classrooms and a Fellowship Hall with a large kitchen.
A New Chapter – 2005–2020
On August 14, 2005, pastoral leadership transitioned to Pastor Rick Bruckner, who faithfully shepherded the church through continued growth until his retirement in 2020.
Transition and Renewal – 2020–Present
After a season under the leadership of Pastor Zeb Thomas and Assistant Pastor Benjamin Marasco, a decision was made in the summer of 2024 to divide the congregation. Those who remained at Friendship voted in November 2024 to welcome Pastor Rick Bruckner back as Senior Pastor.
Through every season, God’s presence has been our foundation. From living rooms in Log Pile to a thriving church family in Washington, His faithfulness has carried us. We remain committed to His Word, united in His love, and devoted to showing the love of Jesus for generations to come.
To God be the glory—now and always.
We believe there is but one living and true God, revealed in three persons - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit - the same in substance, in power and in glory.
We believe in the substitutional death of Jesus Christ.
We believe in one condition of salvation, which is acceptance of the Lord Jesus Christ by faith as a personal Savior. We also believe that a godly sorrow for sin and a godly life is the fruit thereof. People thus born again by the Holy Spirit become children of God.
We believe in the personal abiding of the Holy Spirit in every believer.
We believe the Word of God is the inspired Word as stated in 2 Timothy 3:16-17: “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.”
We believe in one church of God, embracing all believers in faith.
We believe in the judgments as set forth by Jesus Christ.
We believe there are two sacraments: Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.
We believe Jesus Christ was begotten by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, and is true God and true man.
We believe man was created in the image of God. Genesis 1:27 says: “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him: male and female created he them.”
We also believe that man sinned and thus caused both physical death and spiritual death.
We believe in the resurrection of the crucified body of the Lord Jesus Christ, in his ascension into heaven, and in his present life there for us as high priest and advocate.
We believe in the blessed hope of the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ, the personal and imminent return of our Lord into the air for His saints. We believe in the personal, visible, and glorious return of Christ to earth with his saints.
We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and unjust, the everlasting blessedness of the saved, and the punishment of the lost.
We believe that Satan, a fallen angel, is the evil power of this age, the adversary of Christ and his church, and that his destiny is eternal punishment of the lost.
We believe that the commandments of God given in the Old Testament are fulfilled in Jesus Christ.
